





Fine Antiques & Jewellery. Japanese Lacquer Glove Box. A Japanese black lacquered box with a very pretty gilded scene of leaves and flowers with a bird on a branch waiting for a spider. It dates to the late Meiji or Tasho period around 1910. These were usually used for ladies dress gloves, and also sometimes for fans. Bright red interior contrasting with the black exterior. Minor wear to the exterior. Minor wear and slight discolouration on places to the interior with two small patches of red lacquer scratched away to the lid. Height: 4.5 cm (1 3/4 inches). Width: 30.3 cm (12 inches). Depth: 9.2 cm (3 5/8 inches). Weight: 256 grams (before packing). Stock Code: 2943 AP22-1.
